On December 3, 2021 more than 150 friends and supporters of the Don Bosco Community Center gathered for the 6th Annual Don Bosco Dreams event at the Apawamis Club in Rye. The evening’s festivities were kicked off by a wonderful performance by Fordham University’s Hot Notes a capella group.
The program honored several individuals who represent the true spirit of Don Bosco to serve the immigrant poor in our community, while raising important funds for the Center’s children’s education, social outreach, and social justice programs.
Marielis Arias, Maria Guadalupe Novoa and Carmen Lopez de Liñero were presented with the Mission and Excellence Award for their exceptional commitment to serving the community in the Center’s Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry.
Iona Prep student Peter Hooper was awarded the Youth Spirit Award in Service for his volunteer work with the Center’s youngest children participating in the Early Childhood Bilingual Program.
Don Bosco Scholar and Mercy College student Marcela Oyervide honored Mercy College President Timothy Hall with the Transformation In Education award for his leadership in driving college access for aspiring first gen students.
Thank you to everyone who supported us in person and in spirit
