FIRST GENERATION College Access Scholars Program

We believe every young person deserves the chance to reach their fullest potential, regardless of background or circumstance.

Our FIRST GENERATION College Access Scholars Program supports first generation and underserved students with personalized mentorship, academic guidance, and encouragement as they pursue higher education and meaningful careers.

Each year, we welcome a select group of students from local public and Catholic high schools. Our scholars work with three mentors: a college coach who guides them and their families through the admissions process, a writing coach who helps craft strong personal essays, and a financial aid coach who assists in navigating scholarships and funding.

Together, a team of more than thirty dedicated volunteers provides expert guidance and steady encouragement from application through the transition to college. To ease financial pressures, each scholar receives a $500 stipend per semester for books and essential expenses. Our goal is for every student to graduate with little or no debt, and our scholars typically receive scholarships covering 95 percent or more of their tuition.

Because of you, 65 students are currently in college and more than 60 have graduated from four year colleges. This year, we welcome 20 new scholars beginning their college journey.

This program changes lives, but the need continues to grow. For every student we welcome, many more remain on our waitlist, hoping for the same opportunity.
